ABOUT
Welcome! I’m Valerie—a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Expressive Arts Therapist (ExAT), and a lifelong artist.

I know that when life feels heavy or complex, words alone aren’t always enough to capture what we are going through. This is where the arts can offer a powerful, alternative way to explore your life and possibilities. Art has been my “constant companion”, and a steady guide in helping me navigate my own ups and downs. It is this deep, personal connection to creativity that informs every aspect of my clinical practice.

Before transitioning into therapy, I worked professionally as an award-winning filmmaker and arts educator. This background allows me to draw from a wide range of creative practices—including visual arts, movement, writing, drama, and sound—to help you access curiosity and shift perspectives. You don’t need to be an “artist” to work with me; we simply use these tools as a bridge to your inner wisdom and joy.

My approach is deeply client-centred, relational, and trauma-informed. I strive to create a compassionate space where you can imagine, be curious, and gently challenge old beliefs.

Together, we can work through:
  • Emotional Weight: Navigating the "stuck" feelings of anxiety, depression, or perfectionism.
  • Life Transitions: Finding your identity amidst major changes or moving through the fog of grief.
  • Relationship Dynamics: Exploring family estrangement, parenting, or building deeper connections.
  • Growth & Identity: Supporting neurodiversity, body image, and the unique challenges of aging.

Our work is about co-creating a path toward healing and expansion.

I offer sessions both virtually and in-person from my office in downtown Toronto.
