ABOUT
I'm Marlo Drago (she/her), a Registered Social Worker within Ontario and Nova Scotia. Experiencing my own developmental trauma as a child, and not receiving the support I needed ignited my passion for becoming a therapist. After working with children and families in the child welfare sector, I honed my skills and now focus my practice on helping adults work through little and big traumas. I have training in a range of modalities that assist me in creating a treatment plan that is unique to your needs. I draw from different evidence-based practices including Somatic Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Polyvagal Theory, Trauma Informed Therapy, Inner Child Work, Boundary Work, Mindfulness Meditation & Yoga to best need my clients needs. We work as a team; I bring my own experiences and knowledge and so do you! I will help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and learn tools to help you manage life's challenges with more confidence, ease and effectiveness.
Pillars of my practice • Increasing self-love, kindness, and patience towards yourself is an integral part of healing. • Your body holds onto deep-seated experiences. Understanding this link is key to emotional healing. • True change starts with knowing yourself—your habits, patterns, and emotions you have that are influenced by past experiences. • Real self-care involves research-backed strategies that bring lasting positivity and joy to your life. • Humans want to feel seen, heard and safe. I help clients that are: • feeling burnout, anxious, stressed out out and unable to enjoy life • using coping skills that are not benefiting them long term • feeling stuck and don't know how to move forward in an area of your life • finding it difficult to say "no" and set boundaries with family, friends or work • feeling that they are not communicating with others well • wanting to get curious about how their childhood shaped their core values and beliefs • wanting to stop intergenerational trauma • wanting to heal parts of their inner child/inner teenager • wanting to learn to be in the present moment, feel grounded and more calm |
